Is Iphone 16 comming with Full Screen Display: Iphone 16 Specs Leak: IOS Features

iPhones prior to the launch of the 10th gen iPhone X had thick bezels above and below the screen. Post the announcement, it started implementing the famous notch design for its phones. If rumours are to be believed, we might see a hole-punch cutout for the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro series and a slightly smaller notch on the regular models. On the flip side, there’s also a discussion as to when totally full-screen iPhones will arrive. We might have an answer for this.

Now, noted Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo has shed some light in this regard. He says that the Cupertino giant will make the move towards an unimpeded display in 2024. Apple could be moving both its front-facing camera and Face ID under the screen for its high-end devices. 2024 means, we will be seeing iPhone 16 Pro series.

Full-screen iPhones in 2024

The Apple analyst made the prediction on Twitter linking back to a tweet from earlier this month wherein he said that “under-display Face ID coming in 2024 (iPhone 16), and this time schedule is less of a technical issue and more of a marketing purpose.” Kuo believes that high-end models (probably Pro and Pro Max) will adopt an under-display camera and under-display Face ID in 2024.

Apparently, a low-light condition is detrimental to front-camera quality, and ISP and algorithm are critical for quality improvements. This comes after Kuo earlier predicted that full-screen iPhones could arrive sometime in 2023 at the earliest. The reasoning behind this is that there was an increasing demand for Touch ID owing to the rise of mask-wearing. But Apple pushed an update for Face ID that allowed it to work with masks, which subsequently slowed down the requests for Touch ID.

While a full-screen iPhone with an in-display camera and Face ID sensor sounds good on paper, it remains to be seen how Apple will push the quality of the camera under the display to match a standard sensor. Reviews of Android phones with under-display cameras have suggested that the tech is improving but there’s still a long way to go. However, as Kuo suggests, Apple could bring improvements in ISP and image algorithms.

Additionally, Kuo also predicts that iPhone 14 will have an upgraded front-facing camera with autofocus capabilities and a wider aperture.
